When it comes to cryptocurrencies, one of the main counter-arguments if that of environmental pollution. The “older” cryptocurrencies, in particular, are associated with high energy consumption, which has led to blockchain having a rather bad reputation. Elrond shows that blockchain technology does not necessarily have to be harmful to the environment. The carbon-negative blockchain is based on the proof-of-stake mechanism and is therefore faster, more efficient and more environmentally friendly than blockchains based on the proof-of-work concept.
